Today, August 25, 2025, Family Promise of Cobb County celebrates the 10th Annual Golf Classic at Indian Hills Country Club. This signature event gathers golfers, sponsors, volunteers, and supporters for a memorable day of giving through sport. It is the largest fundraiser of the year for our organization.
Over the last decade, this event has helped Family Promise deepen its impact and expand its reach. From humble beginnings to a sold-out event, the Golf Classic is a symbol of what community action can achieve. Every golfer, sponsor, and volunteer plays a part in building stronger, more stable futures for families across Cobb County.
Building on 10 Years of Impact
Over the past decade, our Golf Classic has grown from a grassroots initiative into a cornerstone of our fundraising calendar. This year’s tournament sold out weeks in advance, a clear sign of the community’s deep commitment to our mission.
This year is especially meaningful. We are celebrating ten years of collective effort to support families experiencing homelessness, or better said, families overcoming housing instability. In 2025, we also launched our new Eviction Prevention Program. Your participation today helps it reach even more families in immediate need.
The Golf Classic has helped fuel:
Over 5,000 nights of safe shelter
Meals provided through our rotational program
Families transitioning into permanent housing
Life-changing case management support across our programs
These outcomes aren’t numbers. They are stories. Stories of children sleeping in a bed instead of a car. Parents attending job interviews while their children are safe and fed. Families celebrating birthdays in a home of their own.
Behind each outcome is a network of volunteers, donors, and advocates making sure families are seen, supported, and celebrated. The Golf Classic is not only a financial driver, it is a testament to what people can do when they come together with compassion and purpose.
Why the Golf Classic Matters
The Golf Classic is not just a fundraiser. It is a lifeline. Funds raised today ensure we can continue:
Delivering rotational shelter through local congregations
Providing meals and transitional housing where families can rebuild stability
Offering case management, support services, and personalized resource navigation
Preventing homelessness through our new Eviction Prevention Program
Our model operates at about one third the cost of traditional shelters thanks to volunteers, partnerships, and thoughtful stewardship. Every round of golf today translates into housing, resources, and hope for children and parents in Cobb County.
More than just dollars, this event inspires new volunteers, re-engages longtime supporters, and introduces our mission to new networks. It invites the community to invest not just in a day of golf, but in lasting solutions to family homelessness.
Sponsor Spotlight: Thank You for Your Partnership
We could not host the Golf Classic without our sponsors. Sponsorship slots sold out early this year, a strong signal of faith in our mission.
A heartfelt thank you to our Platinum Sponsor, NPSG Global, and to every organization or individual who partnered with us in 2025. Your early support enables event planning, outreach, and impact.
Sponsors like you:
Help fund safe shelter for families experincing the trauma of homelesness
Provide gas cards for parents commuting to new jobs
Ensure that diapers, formula, and hygiene supplies are always stocked
Keep our case managers equipped to support families with dignity
We look forward to highlighting your generosity in our post-event recap.
Sponsors are not just funders, they are mission partners. They bring their employees to volunteer, share our story across their platforms, and introduce others to Family Promise. It is this kind of layered support that strengthens our foundation year after year.
Stories from the Course: Today’s Atmosphere
As this blog goes live, golfers are teeing off under a warm summer sky. Volunteers are checking in players, placing signs along the course, and keeping everything running smoothly. Staff and board members are connecting with community partners and cheering on our participants.
The mood? Joyful. Purpose-driven. Energized.
Because while the Golf Classic is filled with friendly competition, it’s really about what happens off the course. It’s about rallying a community to uplift its neighbors.
A player hits a birdie, and his foursome erupts in cheers. A volunteer hands out cold water bottles in the shade. Conversations bloom between holes about how to get involved, donate, or share Family Promise’s mission with others.
It’s not just a game. It’s a movement.
A Volunteer’s Perspective: Capturing the Heart of the Day
In last year’s Golf Classic, a volunteer Anna S. reflected:
"I was welcomed with open arms and felt extremely appreciated the whole time… the organization of the event and the kindness of everyone who participated stood out to me."
Anna’s words capture the spirit of today. Whether you are lining the course with a sign, connecting families to housing, or playing 18 holes, every role contributes to something greater.
Volunteers come from churches, civic groups, local schools, and corporate teams. They prep for the big day, direct parking, check in golfers, and lend their talents behind the scenes. Their energy infuses the event with heart.
Looking Back, Moving Forward
As we reflect on ten years of this incredible tradition, we are filled with gratitude. For every golfer who has registered. For every sponsor who has stepped up. For every volunteer who has shown up before sunrise to set up.
This isn’t just a golf tournament. It is a symbol of what we can accomplish when community comes together to help families regain their footing.
And we’re not done. In 2026 and beyond, we will continue to build on the legacy of today’s event. Your support fuels what happens next.
The families we serve are working toward big dreams, homeownership, careers, degrees, reunification, stability. The Golf Classic helps us walk alongside them with the tools, trust, and time they need to thrive.
